Access is via a staircase, with a landing that serves as an interior balcony overlooking the living space.
The roof window opens onto the mountains. You feel alone in the world…

Who are we?

Welcome to our home! We are Marc, a lover of wood and nature, and Nathalie, a food enthusiast and passionate about interior design. Here is the story of this unique place that we have transformed for you.

Perched on the heights of the village, our Alsatian forest house stands on ancient Roman ramparts. From here, above the village rooftops, you can see the Alsace plain and sometimes even the silhouette of the Alps. Beyond the house, the forest begins, and the road runs straight toward the Hartmannswillerkopf. A privileged location in the heart of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Natural Park.

Our Story

very first visit, we loved the light, the peace and quiet, the proximity to the forest, and the solid, proud appearance of the building. And then there was the beautiful adjoining barn! Marc exclaimed, “This is where I’ll set up my woodworking workshop.” Marc grew up alongside his grandfather, a carpenter. Today, he is a master cabinetmaker in the aviation industry. Wood is his language.

As for Nathalie, she grew up with a father who was an airplane pilot, passionate about aviation, travel, and beautiful landscapes. Following in his footsteps, Nathalie built her career in aeronautics. When it came time to name the cottage, it naturally became a tribute to the pilot: “À toi l’aviateur” (“To You, Aviator”).

We quickly decided to transform the barn into a holiday cottage. Because we love sharing, and this place felt meant to be lived in and shared. Working in multicultural environments, it felt natural to welcome travelers, families, and friends from all over the world.

The Soul of the Cottage

When giving it a soul, we imagined the cottage we ourselves would love to stay in.
We restored the beautiful original timber frame of the old barn and left it exposed. It shelters a wooden cabin on the mezzanine — a dream refuge for both children and adults. We worked with the finest local craftsmen to create a functional, comfortable, and warm living space, with carefully chosen details throughout. Touches of warm colors echo the botanical lines of the wallpaper. We sourced and restored much of the furniture ourselves. The ironwork is inspired by the Belle Époque and the Eiffel style, echoing the period when the house was built and the early days of aviation. In the living room cabinet, next to the hiking maps, you will find beautiful books about aviation and travel — a legacy from Nathalie’s pilot father.

Your reflexology session with Nathalie

Your hostess Nathalie is also a practitioner of plantar and palmar reflexology. During your stay, she welcomes you in her office next to the cottage, for a foot and hand massage session that will rebalance your energy, promote your relaxation and activate your natural self-healing mechanisms.
